Trust in the Slow Work of God

Have you ever noticed how much in our lives recycles? How lessons we thought we’d learned long ago come back for us to deepen the learning, to let it move from our heads to our hearts and be lived in new ways? How people come back into our lives for renewed friendships or maybe to do the hard work we couldn’t manage years ago? I get impatient and think “Not this again!” Then I’m humbled by discovering yet again how very far I am from some imagined endpoint.

This guided prayer meditation follows the form of lectio divina or sacred reading. Here we’ll reflect on the slow work of God through the words of Teilhard de Chardin. When I read these words, they call me to patience and greater acceptance of whatever is recycling in my life at the time. [Read more about lectio divina in Prayer Practices.]
